International Workshop

" . . . I believe art has to take responsibility, but it should not give up being art . . ."
                                                                                                                                                                      Anselm Kiefer

Experimentation and play are the basis of all art making, and at Metáfora we believe in encouraging dialogue and debate within the creative process. Art should make us grow, make us see things from different perspectives, help us question our beliefs and speak to our emotions. In a truly international atmosphere, students and tutors of Metáfora collaborate in creating an experience where play and constructive criticism walk hand in hand.

Metáfora´s Contemporary Art activities consist mainly of a full time studio-arts course. This course is called “The International Workshop". Artists and art-students come from a variety of countries, giving the course its distinctive international atmosphere.

Students with different backgrounds and experiences come to Metàfora for 2-4 semesters. While some of them are attracted to the programme in order to try new techniques and ways of working, other students come to mature their artistic discourse, spending their time on in-depth studio investigation.
